The Grass Is Greener!

Going Against The Grain Posted on May 11, 2019 by Nathaniel LewisMay 11, 2019

It took me some time, but when I finally had enough and wanted better for myself, I followed through with the declaration, I made five months before I departed. It was during the new year of 2013, I declared and informed my then wife, the first opportunity I get, I am leaving you! I was willing to face the fears that I had of the unknown. Sure, I’ve had my sad days, then my bad days, but the good things that began to happen in my life, far outweighed the years of emotional drama, deceit, and lies that I had to endure.

Love, Marriage, Divorce

Going Against The Grain avatarPosted on May 2, 2019 by Nathaniel LewisMay 11, 2019 1

I’m sure, that no one enters marriage, contemplating divorce. Oh wait, this is 2019, we have prenuptial! I guess there is nothing wrong with preparing for the UN-expected or the inevitable. It seems that no one is immune to what follows marriage, and I don’t mean death. Sure, you will have your problems, your challenges and crisis they will test the very fabric of your commitment, and most fail. Society tells you, “you don’t have to stand for it”, or “You can do bad all by your self” While women are strong, independent and are in no need of a man, I wonder what they think of their newly declared strength and independence when they return to an empty house.

Can You Hear Me When I’m Quiet?

Going Against The Grain Posted on April 22, 2019 by Nathaniel LewisMay 11, 2019

When my nose itched, you no longer sneeze, when my face tingled, you didn’t scratch yours. We feel many things but can’t share them with the one sitting next to us. Love, it somehow got lost on its way; I look forward to those long days at the office and coming home is the saddest part of my day. We don’t finish each other sentences anymore, we go to our separate corners of the house, and stay. We have companions and yet are lonely, we have a significant other and are still living like we are single.

It Is Not Good For Man To Be Alone

Going Against The Grain Posted on April 20, 2019 by Nathaniel LewisApril 20, 2019

What is it that happened to couples over the years? I realize no one word or sentence can answer the question, but something has changed in recent years. Social media is a supplement to communication and intimacy. We meet, greet and bond by way of smartphone and then by surrounding ourselves in crowds of people. Seldom do we socialize and when we do, eye contact is at a minimum or non-existent when walking past someone in public.

Three Things You Can Do When She Tells You She Is Leaving You!

Going Against The Grain Posted on April 12, 2019 by Nathaniel LewisApril 22, 2019

The following you are about to read, should not be taken as relationship advice; it is mainly for entertainment purposes (IE: Me making light of past experience. Although I wish I could have shared this advice in all seriousness to the young man who was obviously stressed ( him not knowing it was a blessing and ticket to being free from a woman who was possibly seeking her independence), it was an event he must learn from to appreciate the experience. Take the Red Pill!

Honesty- The best policy or best cliche?

Going Against The Grain avatarPosted on April 11, 2019 by Nathaniel LewisApril 14, 2019 1

Whoever said that honesty was the best policy, probably never slept on the couch or had to make their dam lunch or dinner for themselves. There are many things I have learned about honesty, and one being, honesty comes with consequences and many of which are not so pleasant, especially as it relates to marriage and relationships.

Dead Plants

Watering those beautiful plants can be a challenge when you’re gone for the weekend or even longer and I would hate to see all of that hard work and attention wither up and die when my plants aren’t watered. Some plants can be a bit annoying in that; they take away from the space they occupy instead accentuate it. This is why having the right plant is essential, but nothing is more annoying than having a plant that will not respond to the care and attention that you give it.

In What Time I am Afraid

Going Against The Grain avatarPosted on April 1, 2019 by Nathaniel LewisApril 4, 2019

While it is possible to consider Jesus Christ being afraid of His impending journey to the cross, before His crucifixion, He did ask the Father…” If it is possible, let this cup pass from me”. I make this point for those who say they have no fear of anything. When fear does present itself, there are two options…fight or flight. Stand your ground, face it, confront it or…” exit stage left!”

Premarital Canceling

Going Against The Grain Posted on March 27, 2019 by Nathaniel LewisApril 20, 2019

Everything good or not so good about the relationship will either strengthen or weaken the bond you should already have after being together for some time. Special moments, those intimate conversations and resolving those problematic issues are some of the things that make, healthy relationships.

Church – Place of Worship or Institution?

Going Against The Grain Posted on March 26, 2019 by Nathaniel LewisMarch 25, 2019

While I believe there should be order in the place where the people of God assemble, the modern church seems to more of a place where the congregants have been institutionalized and trained to the point, they are dependent of leadership for all they need to appear godly.
