Because its to easy, too many believers are doing it and are afraid of saying something. Going Against The Grain is not a church, we are not a religious organization. The inspiration for Going Against The Grain began year ago while attending Pentecostal and Holiness churches. I (the author and founder) was (and I still am) a curious person. I believe in understanding the what and the why of what I believe. I am always open to learning, but open to learning whats true. When people (church leaders, preachers or evangelist) can only repeat what they have been taught and can not give a defense to what and why they believe or do something it should cause one to turn to the word of God for a standard or the truth, and I did.To my surprise, there are many people in the church that only know what the pastor or leader teaches and can repeat most of it from memory. When the pastor or church leader has more authority and influence than Gods word, something is definitely wrong and when you realize that teachings and practices do not line up with Gods Word and you ask questions, by default, you are going against the grain.
Your friends and associates will become few in number when you begin to think for yourself. I am not saying that I am a proponent of of standing alone and being a rebel. I believe in and support leadership (I was in the military for twenty years) but, when asking is discouraged and you question a practice to see if its supported by scripture or you realize it’s just tradition; you are shunned and your going against the grain.
Fact, their are many preachers, evangelist, teachers and leaders (called wolves dressed like sheep) that will hide, twist, stretch and spin the truth (which makes it deceptive;which makes it a lie) and they know their members will not and do not read (or study) Gods Word. This is why many leaders are able to get away with immoral and questionable behavior and the membership is non the wiser until its on the six o’clock news.
So, why do you go with the grain?
