Now that I have your attention, before you dismiss this article as blasphemous read on to understand my statement. I PETER 1:15-16 states the following:
-But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16: for it is written:
“Be holy, because I am holy.”We hear this often in the church with little to no explanation as to what it means. It seems that by default believers just simply say within them selves “Okay God, no problem! You want me to be Holy, I’ll do it” The problem with Holiness is this: YOU CAN’T DO IT! (on your own or your way!)
No article of clothing, choice of activity or method of behavior will cause God to look at you and admire your effort to be Holy.
How bold of us to think if I do this or that, say this or don’t say that, go here and not go there, wear this or not wear that, I’ll be Holy like that missionary, or like that preacher, or even like God!
If you follow a list of dos and don’t s, some procedures or methods that you execute that deem you Holy, you them become self righteous! There is nothing that you, anyone or we can do to become or emulate The Holiness of God (except His Son Jesus Christ).
Jesus Christ has already done it for you! It is Christ Living in us and through us, so that it is no longer we but Christ living in us! We are made righteous in the sight of God by our Faith in Jesus Christ.
When we think we can live up to God’s standard, on your own, or your way with your rules and traditions your mistaken. We no need to look to Christ for help!

We have no need to look to Christ for help. That what’s wrong (we)have no need to look to Christ for help…..unless somethings wrong then we seek him everyday to be holy. You’re right we can’t do holiness by doing the things we want. Holiness is not to do thing but what you already are.
Why do you think most believers (when it comes to Holiness) can run down a list of things “to do” and what not “to do”?
