The Moral High Road.

by nlewis on April 21, 2012 · 0 comments

Its been one amazing week for high profile celebrates mainly two from the past week.  People from all over the world I’m sure waited to hear the public apology from Tiger Woods.  Many people who idolized Tiger Woods felt let down and they were highly disappointed in the Pro Golfer, even his mother displayed her disappointment in her son.

Many of  the comments made by people about Tiger were comments of being disappointed and how they will never look up to him again and so on. After listening to the many comments of people,  I could only think about how can we place any person on a pedestal and forget they are fallible and prone to making poor and selfish decisions just as we are.   How many of use are willing to make a public apology for the things we done in secret? For many of the people who expressed their disappointment, how can anybody take the moral high road when there are many us who have done  or even thought about worse. This is not to justify or vindicate the famous  pro golfer, but this shows the attitude of people in how no matter how much a person may say they are sorry, or how much they apologize, people will sit in judgment and critique and question ones  sincerity.  It appears that, if Tiger Woods were to give his life, and make restitution to those he let down nothing would be enough to satisfy the anger and  disappointment felt by people.

Earlier in the year 2009, when a famous evangelist was assaulted by her estranged husband, those in the church wanted blood rather than forgiveness and restoration for the Bishop.  It seems that we forgive who we think deserves it, we forget what we don’t want to remember, we hold on to things that we should let go of and we wonder why churches are in such disarray.  We gladly accept forgiveness from the savior when we deserved the true wages for our sin. When someone, greatly in need or forgiveness and restoration,  those disappointed in the offender and those sitting by waiting to pass their justice, will deny it to those apologizing.
