Acts 2:42-47 “They (The Church) devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. “Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.
All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
The church is a living, breathing, walking, talking organism made up of people. The ecclesia, the called out ones, we the people who believe in the death, burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The church is not the building, but the building is simply a place in which the believers gather (congregate). The building will not be caught up in the last day, when the trump of Christ will sound; the people, the living church will be caught up.
Will I go to hell for not attending church? Church is not something that you attend, nor is it something you become a member of. You become apart of it (the church, the body of Christ) by you faith in Christ, you are literally born into it when your spirit is born again by faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is not church attendance or affiliation and church attendance or affiliation does not guarantee salvation. You can not attend church because you are the church, your worship is not confined to a Sunday or a particular day but your life and how you live it in reverence and obedience to the savior is your worship. You don’t need a praise team or a choir when you can make a joyful noise unto the Lord with your own voice. God is not in the building, He is in the Church, He no longer dwells in physical place (tent or building) made with hands, but He dwells in the Hearts of His people. The place where God dwells is a Holy place and its not a building, the place where God dwells is separated for His use (sanctified) so, why do we (the church) often treat each other with contempt?
Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty, sometimes when gathered in the building for corporate worship, why do so many feel bound and restricted. Why must the people of God be scheduled, corralled, managed and controlled by others that state they know more about God than the one being indwelt? Ask and it shall be given, seek and yo shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you!
In 2010, what ever questions you may have about your salvation, go to God in prayer, look to His word for the answers, keep asking, keep searching, keep knocking, you will get your answer. God is not standing by ready to blast you into hell for:
- Not tithing
- Not going to church on New Years
- Not going to church every Sunday
His remedy for man’s sin was His Son Jesus Christ, who died ONCE, for the sin of mankind. Shall we continue in sin that the grace of God may continue? The Apostle Paul answers this with a resounding..NO! (Romans 6:1-8).
Saints of God, You Are The Church!
