The word free seems to take on another meaning in the church. Nothing stands out more, to a person in need, than to see a church marquee with the word “FREE”. The most common definition I’ve heard for the gospel is that it means “good news”. Which is true. The logical question to ask though would be, “good news about what? The best way to answer that is to see what the Bible has to say. So here goes …

Fear is a powerful motivator. Given the correct lighting and when you get the acoustics just right in a building and place a microphone in the hands of a skillful speaker who can raise the emotions in a bowl of clam chowder, that same person can have anyone asking what they must do to be saved.
