The word love is used so much in our society that I often wonders if people really understand the word or the actions that should follow the meaning; not that I am an expert or an authority on the subject.
Our modern dictionaries define love as:
1. A profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.
2. A feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.
3. Sexual passion or desire.
4. Affectionate concern for the well-being of others: the love of one’s neighbor. Read more on Love is what it does….

Its common to feel the hurt and disappointment that comes when you try and express yourself to a love one and family member about something that is on your mind and they don’t seem to understand. What about the time when you went to the pastor in counsel and you poured out your heart and they just did not get it? It can be a frustrating matter when your back is against the wall and you have to deal with a real life situation and the people that are close to you don’t seem to understand.
With all of the prayer, fasting and preaching that the people of God take in, it would seem that if anything they could empathize with, understand or remotely relate to what a person is feeling or experiencing and once the listener understands, they could administer appropriate counsel or comforting words. Sometimes we leave from the presence of these counselors in a worse state that when we first approached them; everything can not be spiritualized.
Church folk seem to have a real expertise in trivializing a matter or distancing themselves from helping by introducing a spiritual application that has nothing to do with an answer or solution. For instance, if someone is hungry, feed them, if they are in need and your empowered to provide it, do it! If they need an encouraging word, give it; don’t invite them to a Sunday service, meet the need if its in your power to do it. Something is definitely wrong when we can not feel or respond to the needs of others, especially in the church.
Before we became people of God, we were just ordinary people with extraordinary problems. When God saved us, we became people with a God who could address the extraordinary problems. God uses people as His instrument, to address the problems that we face everyday. What happens when people fail? What happens when they (family, church, friends) fail to understand? We still have a God that understands and that can Identify with what you are feeling!
Even when they don’t understand; pastor, church folk, mother , father, wife, sister, brother! God knows all about it! David was just simply overwhelmed that God took the time to know so much about him (Psalm 139:6). Even when they do not understand nor do they respond with care to what you are dealing with, God sees and understands! When He sent His Son Jesus Christ, He was sent as a remedy to your condition! Sin Killed us, But God through His Son revived us and gave us victory and eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ.
So, Even If they Don’t Understand, God Had already worked out a marvelous plan to redeem us back unto Himself! Although it is true “How Shall they hear without as preacher” He (God) will not let you fall! You are being Preached to right now! Outside of a building, outside of the organization that we call the local church, you are hearing the word now, all it takes is for you to believe that Jesus Christ is Gods Son who came and died for your sin, that you might have life eternal. All is takes is faith!
So, Even if they (the church, your family, your friends) don’t understand you or your problems! God understands, and he has provided a remedy for your condition! His Son!

I believe it goes without saying, how powerful words are. Those in ministry who pride themselves as being spirit lead, are often the most careless when it comes to choosing the words they speak to others. If your words don’t encourage, edify and strengthen, it could be those aren’t the choice words that God would have you t use. It seems, those who use the Cross as a reason, to quickly condemn folks to hell and preach a message , that leaves the hearer to believe that God is really angry, is a messenger misrepresenting God. Should the masses be alarmed at a message of doom and eternal gloom? Or should they be reminded about the love of God that caused Him, to give His Son? I’m sure you may know many people who state, they wouldn’t be caught dead doing something other that attending church on a Sunday. Sounds religious to me; have you ever asked such a person why? Why do you attend church, every time the doors are open? Is it because the pastor said so? Is God impressed with your attendance? Does it make you more spiritual?
I find that many of those who spend more time in the church often neglect other areas of their personal lives. Men who spend more time in the church “doing ministry” often leave alone and at home a wife wanting to spend time with her mate. Women who put the pastor and the church first often are surprised when their husbands walks out on them. Has the church become so focused on attending church, that we have abandoned not only each other? How can the sinner or the backslider be convinced that God still loves them, because they hardly see a believer….there all in the church building! With all the pray, bible study and shut-in services that go on, many of our churches have broken homes, marriages on the brink of divorce, husbands spending more time with the women in the church and women contemplating relationships with men outside the church and everybody meets on Sunday with a hardy amen and a praise da lawd.
