Why are you here? I remember asking this question to a Sunday School class. The answers were genuine for the most part, but many of the students were not their by choice. Some were there because they said God commands it, others said “I’m here to learn and grow”, good answer I though and that’s exactly why we should be in fellowship services. Would you rather someone love you because they must or love you because they…just love you?
I would rather be loved for who I am rather than be loved because the person loving me has no choice in the matter or they feel that way because someone demands or commands it. I know that you are probably thinking of the many scriptures commanding us to love one another. Remember when you were a kid and you got in a fight with another kid, when an adult found out and talked to you both, the adult said “now shake hands and say your sorry”, remember your reluctance to do anything because you were not sorry, even at the command of the adult telling you to say it you did not feel it or respond to it. I think that once a person in indwelt by the spirit of God, you love because God is loving through you. Read more on By choice or by obligation…

We hear the word unconditional used in many ways and one of the most common I believe is when it is used in the church when talking about the unconditional love of God toward people. The other method the word unconditional is used is in the conversation of christian people when talking about the unconditional love of the husband towards the wife.
Love with out conditions sounds nice and we are so ready to embrace such love coming from the cross (as Christ died for the sins of man) but when it comes to showing this type of love towards each other, its on the condition of. In the marriage vows, we promise each other in the site of God (or the justice of the peace) what we will do and how we will love, honor and forsake all others and so on. On the conditions that…and in comes the fine print. The following conditions apply. Is their a condition to salvation? Yes, Only believe. Read more on Unconditional love on the condition of……

I remember a sermon preached by a Pastor entitled “Love, is what it does“, sounds catchy I thought, but I didn’t realize the meaning until years later; no I am not implying that I’ve mastered it, but I believe I understand what it is and what it in not.
Love…Isn’t it ironic we use the same word to define how we feel about a pair of shoes? We use the word “Love” to express our delight for a favorite meal or memorable vacation spot.
The word “Love” is used so carelessly in our everyday life and is tossed around as a filler to define something that is said to be so complex, yet it is a simple word…an action word.
In western culture it seems to have many interpretations; you can’t make love, it’s something you show and in can be expressed in many ways to the object of one affection. Love is not confined to a physical act involving two people engaged in simple or complex bedroom antics, nor is it simply a term of endearment. Read more on I Love You, I Love those Shoes…

People are constantly searching for “what the bible says” about various topics. In the hands of someone looking to preach for a profession almost any action can be justified in the bible. If your looking to justify a reason to drink…”there’s a app scripture for that” (sorry, I couldn’t resist). Leaders can teach church members they SHOULD be in attendance every time the church doors are open and can find a scripture to enforce obedience. People that what to justify drinking wine will refer to the passage of scripture when Paul tells Timothy to “take a little wine for thy stomach’s sake” or the account of Jesus turning the water into wine.
What does the Bible say? That depends on what you are looking for, the truth or justification. Anyone can search the commentaries or talk to their circle of friends to see what they think. Read more on What does the Bible say? – It's relative….
