In the company of believers you hear all sort of cliches, fancy words of the christian vernacular, the problem with these words and phrases is that many of them are useless and empty. Being christian does not make you exempt from life’s problems. Although one might spend their time in much prayer, you still must interact with the rest of the worlds population and you will encounter other people with real problems.
How do you exhort, how do you minister to someone without forcing your way of thinking at them? Are you out to get them to join your church? Or, are you seeking to lead them to salvation in Jesus Christ? Speaking in the King James English (quoting bible verses) is enough to turn someone away because you give the impression that you can not relate to what they are feeling. Telling someone to “just pray” about it really falls short of helping when you as a believer should be able to empathize with what they are feeling. Read more on God uses people….
