Why not…They Work! I can vividly remember sitting in a church meeting and the topic was how do we get the people to come in? The leader exclaimed…’What We Need Is A Gimmick’. The concern was to fill the pews, after all there were
bills to pay. There was an old saying in the black church…’When The Church Catches Fire, The World Will Come Out To Watch It Burn’.
To those who may not know what this means, it simply meant that if the church was about the business of souls, God would move by His mighty power, it would be something that the world has yet seen, it will capture their interest an they will come to see what is going on in that church.
Since it seems that many places of worship have blended in with their surroundings, there is little for the world to see. Evangelicals and faith healers have Healing and Miracle Services on command and for what? To seemingly promote their agenda, sell their Cd’s and books and to raise money for their ministries. Many of these overnight sensations are endorsed by other self proclaimed Master Prophets, Prophetess and faith healers alike and many will resort to using gimmicks to get the attention of Church Goers and religious folk. If you take note, I did not say believers. Read more on Using Gimmicks In The Church – Part 1…

We hear the word unconditional used in many ways and one of the most common I believe is when it is used in the church when talking about the unconditional love of God toward people. The other method the word unconditional is used is in the conversation of christian people when talking about the unconditional love of the husband towards the wife.
Love with out conditions sounds nice and we are so ready to embrace such love coming from the cross (as Christ died for the sins of man) but when it comes to showing this type of love towards each other, its on the condition of. In the marriage vows, we promise each other in the site of God (or the justice of the peace) what we will do and how we will love, honor and forsake all others and so on. On the conditions that…and in comes the fine print. The following conditions apply. Is their a condition to salvation? Yes, Only believe. Read more on Unconditional love on the condition of……

Sometimes its hard to separate the two, doctrine and tradition. Its hard to separate them when you supplement your alone time with God, and being in His word with the constant barrage of activities in the church, the teaching and the preaching without performing an Acts 17:11.
When you allow yourself to be entertained or if you are caught up in the display of great oratory skill in the church service, you might be missing what is vital and important. How will you know whats is tradition, doctrine and what is truth if you are hypnotized by the mantra, “let the church say amen” and you don’t understand the text, the theme, the inspirational or the application?
Busy trying to get your praise on? If you just get your praise on, on Sundays, your missing something. If you cant wait until Sunday to meet God in the church, your really missing something. He’s not in the church building, He’s in you! Read more on The traditions of men….
