Fellowship is a word most seldom heard in many black churches. Membership, on the other hand, is what many churches strive to increase. What good is a large membership if true fellowship is lacking? I find it amazing, you could miss a month of Sundays and when you show up, those greeting you say how much they missed you and they were thinking about you. It seems those who missed you so dearly, could not pick up the phone to check on you and the pastor seemingly has no time for one sheep who strays from their flock. I remember the days when fellowship at the local church was a real place to connect and get encouraged in the faith. Read more on Going back to church, what I’m not looking forward to….

Lets face it, church is not what it used to be and it’s not what most people in their late 40′s remember growing up. The church was a place where the pastor certainly had the respect of the community and the people he served. In our present, the church members seem to be serving the pastor. A friend shared with me, their experience while they visited a local church. The people were short-tempered, rude and set the worst example for a group of people representing their local church and pastor. According to 1 Peter 3:15, we should be ready to give every man an answer that’s will ask you the reason of the hope that you have. What is it you can answer? I believe that anyone can answer intelligently as to why they believe, what they believe. Here are some thing to do and not to do.
This is not an exhaustive post that will make the reader a subject matter expert but it will give your something to remembers and what not to do when you have to give someone an answer and they really what to know.

Your probably thinking, this post is about what Christ said in John 14:6. Your close but, maybe I will elude to it later because it has much relevance to this post. Religion can be misleading in the life of a person who does not understand what they believe and why then believe it. Attending or having a membership, in a specific denomination of the Christian faith, is no guarantee of eternal life nor is it a reflection of ones relationship with Jesus Christ. Pastors and elders are merely servants of Jesus Christ and the Gospel, that’s what the Apostle Paul identified himself as in Romans 1:1. Read more on The way of life – The Church Or Christ?…
