It really doesn’t matter, everyone is doing it!

There was a time when being  Christian really meant something.  This is not to say that it means nothing to many but, it seems to not matter to the thousands who lay claim to salvation or Christianity.  In  II Corinthians 5:17, it  reads;  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come –. In this day and time its nearly difficult to spot anything new about Christians because we look the same and do the same things we did prior to accepting Christ as Savior.   Shouldn’t their be something distinct and different about believers? Going to heaven anyhow!

Wow, just imaging that. You can live like you want, intimidate other church members, have an abrasive disposition and still say, “I’m going to heaven any how”! There are many slick words and religious jargon used by church members. Holiness doesn’t start at the beginning of church service and end at the benediction. There is much shaking and tongue speaking in the *OCIG but when the closing prayer is given, the real person shows up outside the front door.

Why does Going Against The Grain write about the thing we like to sweep under the religious rug and look the other way when we leave the place of fellowship? Many churches and members are in denial. Why cant we (the church) see that something is wrong?  The world knows it and the new babes in Christ know it.  We can quote a great number of fancy cliches (some with no spiritual truth or meaning), gossip (on twitter and face book) about each other, and go to church on Sunday and speak in tongues and we wonder why the church still has 50 members.

Going Against The Grain

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Why not go with the grain?

Because its to easy, too many believers are doing it and are afraid of saying something.  Going Against The Grain is not a church, we are not a religious organization.  The inspiration for Going Against The Grain began year ago while attending Pentecostal and Holiness churches.  I (the author and founder)  was (and I still am) a curious person.  I believe in understanding what any why I believe in something.  I am always open to learning, but open to learning whats true.  When people  (church leaders, preachers or evangelist) can only repeat what they have been taught and can not give a defense to what and why they believe or do something it should cause one to turn to the word of God for a standard or the truth, and I did. The Moral High Road.

Its been one amazing week for high profile celebrates mainly two from the past week.  People from all over the world I’m sure waited to hear the public apology from Tiger Woods.  Many people who idolized Tiger Woods felt let down and they were highly disappointed in the Pro Golfer, even his mother displayed her disappointment in her son.

Many of  the comments made by people about Tiger were comments of being disappointed and how they will never look up to him again and so on. After listening to the many comments of people,  I could only think about how can we place any person on a pedestal and forget they are fallible and prone to making poor and selfish decisions just as we are.   How many of use are willing to make a public apology for the things we done in secret? For many of the people who expressed their disappointment, how can anybody take the moral high road when there are many us who have done  or even thought about worse. Read more »
