The Law of Reciprocity

We’ve all heard of it before, “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” or ” you give something and you get something.”  Have you ever felt disgusted or wondered why the nice guy finishes last? You spend your life and effort in living a life pleasing unto God, only to witness the one who is faking their salvation and they prosper beyond your dreams. You tell the truth on your job and get fired, you co-worker lies and get promoted. Read more »

The Natural Man

I like what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:14. In the noted passage of scripture as he stated how the natural man does not receive the things of God.  I have in many of Sunday school classes thought of this passage whenever I would have a student that simply did not receive what was being taught. Its one thing to not understand a passage of scripture and its another to totally reject, that which is thoroughly explained.  Many in the church claiming to be Christians have this same problem. The Pastors Church, The Lords People.

How can the church (the people) belong to the pastor and The people (the church) belong to God also? Can you really have it both ways?  Remember the question and the title, it will come up again.

While reading an article from a national churches web site (The Mother Boards Forum), there were many things written that had me scratching my head.  Tradition can be beneficial in teaching how things were done or maybe how things should be done. Tradition can also be a dangerous thing in the life of a believer and in the church, for instance; when times and methods change, tradition will keep you out dated and out of touch with the reality that things have really changed.  Many people in the church will listen to the things said by the leadership, if they have questions, they won’t ask, they just follow.  I don’t understand how this equates to obedience when you do something that your gut tells you is questionable.

This is  what I mean, in the forum about church mothers (reference is below),  it states that and I quote: “She (the church mother) is to a pastor in the local church what a wife is to her husband at home.” WHAT!  Should not the person writing this article add more clarity?

No, my mind is not in the gutter, anyone having been in the church for some time will realize their are some traditions that simply will not fly in this day and time. If I travel to another church for an engagement, my wife is coming along as my companion and my help.  I know the writer did not mean this literally, but figuratively is not good either.  I realize that the wife is a “helpmate” to her husband (also her pastor) at home, but she is more things than a helpmate to her husband (if the marriage is to last). Why can’t the wife of the Pastor help him in the church if she is truly his helpmate?

come back for the conclusion of this post

Find out what is wrong with this statement: Its the pastors church, but the Lords people.

What if…?

While I was out and about on Sunday with my wife and son, I realized how crowded the mall parking lot was. Wow, (you say to yourself) “He was out at the mall and not to church?” Yes, I was.  It was great to just get out for a bit, get some fresh air and enjoy being with them.  Back to the crowded mall story; my son and I noticed how crowded the place was and we both were thinking, maybe they got out of church early? I then though, well I’d better hurry up, get what I came for and leave before the churches let out and I’m stuck in traffic. Read more »
