When you have done all that you can do – Stand.
When you have done all that you can do, maybe its time to give the situation over to God. Continue to stand, don’t give up! A lot easier said than done right? Of course, if living a life in Christ was that easy and you did not encounter opposition, where would the growth be? What would you learn? The need to depend on God and His strength would not be necessary if it were that easy.
What good is a test if the material was so easy? What if you could pass without a challenge or without having to pick up a book? A plant will encounter opposition in growing and diamonds are made under the extremes of heat and pressure. Soldiers endure the hardness of basic training because it will aide them in surviving to fight yet another day. The training is needed to help them endure the ever changing hostile environments and the demands placed on them in combat.Likewise for the people of God. Everyday will present more challenges and to our surprise most of these challenges come from others calling themselves believers. There is a battle for the control of your thinking in many churches. New believers and even experienced ones are expected to follow blindly without asking questions ( 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21) and they are expected to stand with leadership that has its roots in the traditions of men. (2 Timothy 2:3 )
Much opposition to what you believe and the standard you want to uphold as a believer, will come from family and close friends. I can remember when I attended a church in California, I was ridiculed by other believers because I though it strange to order cocktails during dinner. Wow, we just left a worship service and contradict what is taught and preached about in fellowship services and believers will go to dinner and order a martini or some wine, but tell you how your salvation is in jeopardy if you do the same.
There will be may days that you, the believer will stand alone in your faith. Although others will point you out and look at you sideways with contempt, you must still hold fast to what you believe. If what you belief is rooted in Gods word, then stand. If what you believe is rooted in tradition and has no foundation in Gods Word, a change must take place in your thinking and conduct.
Standing can be very uncomfortable, but its needed in this day and time. Too many people will throw in the towel, that’s real easy to do. Many believers have stated how they would die for the sake of the Gospel, how noble. Dying is easy, try living for Him so that others may see and be encouraged. He wants us to Live for Him. Quitting is the is the easy way out, try living for Him, living through the opposition, living through the ridicule, try standing! Ephesians 6:13
