-Should I Tithe?- cont
Rather than comment to my own post, I decided to just post another article related -Should I tithe?-. This blog does not exist to debate and topics or issues, but to simply challenge the people of God to place tradition aside and think. There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking questions and getting an answer…”the right answer”.
You can not justify the reason you tithe is because you blessed in a situation you encountered. A tither looses their job, yet tithes and their lights don’t get turned off. How do we then reconcile a person who does not tithe, quits a job (because of bad working conditions) and is employed at another within 30 minutes? Who blessed them? Was it luck? Coincidence? How about this same person who was not affected by the recession while believers and tithers he knew lost their jobs and the non tither kept his job and his business prospered? How do we reconcile this?
I believe that every believer should be a giver, giving of your time, you talents, your resources as the spirit of God leads you. Some have excess in their finances, if God leads you to give that, give that. I would rather give freely what God has blessed me with than carry a yoke (with the consequences of hell and damnation) that demands, forces me to give (weather or not I have it). Hmmm…sounds like the IRS.
Any person doing a careful and through study of the tithing system will find out, it is not for the christian church today. I find it disturbing that when a sinner repents of their sin and accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we then inject them with the FEAR of the consequences of not giving God 10% of their income. We burden them with guilt and label them as Robbers and identify them in the congregation (the ones that don’t hold their tithe envelope above their head) during offering time.
