Sunday is the day that most believers set aside for worship. We can see the marquees of churches across America; “Sunday Worship: 10:30″. Your church may have a different time, but I’m sure you get the idea.
On Sunday morning, we look our best and we are on our best behavior, we sing, we pray, we praise and give thanks to God. Monday morning is a totally different thing. Throughout our the week, we tail gate in our cars, cut people off in traffic and… …even flip the occasional finger to the one cutting us off in traffic.
On more than many occasions I have heard people say, “I cant wait until Church This Sunday”
Or, “I cant wait to get to the house of God”. Worship is something many people look forward to, the problem is; Worship starts on Sunday and ends Sunday after the worship service…for them. One day a week seems to be a literal meaning for most people that attend church. The idea or the mindset that God in locked up in a building for the remaining days until Sunday rolls around again, breeds the mentality of Sunday only worship and surely He cant see whats going on, He’s in the building. No matter what day you choose or what day your religion chooses to worship, worshiping once a week is a fallacy. God is not in the building waiting to be worshiped on Sunday, He lives in you, the believer.
The notion of doing what you want to and living with questionably morals for six days and asking God to forgive on the seventh only to return to your sinful state after Sunday service is truly a religion and not worship and service to God. If God is only worthy of “Worth-Ship” a few hours a week (Sunday morning or evening) and the remaining six days are devoted to self and a few church activities our worship is limited worship at best.
For many people Sunday is the staple of their Christian life and a supplement for what we wont do on our own; live right, pray and worship God outside the four walls of the building we call The Church. Don’t limit your worship and reverence unto God to a Sunday service, you service begins when you leave the four walls of the building, when you show up for work, when you are at home, where ever you go, we serve, we reflect what we believe and live it day to day, not just on Sunday.
