Lead by the Spirit or Driven by the Letter

by nlewis on March 24, 2012 · 1 comment

The Holy Ghost was given on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). Jesus said that When He (the Holy Ghost) comes, He shall teach you all things, & bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26).

It (He) is the spirit of God that leads and guides us as believers because His Spirit (God) dwells on the inside of us, God will speak to us through His written Word, the Preacher, Teacher or any way God desires (He is Sovereign) but what ever God has to say, through whom ever He chooses, it will always line up with what is written in scripture! And His Spirit (the Holy Ghost that dwells inside you) will either confirm His Word or Alert you as to what He did or did not say in His Word. This is why it is important to Study! (2 Tim 2:15). David said “thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalms 119:11).

It has been my observation that believers are being driven by fear when it comes to serving God; their relationship with God is based on Tradition and a set of (dos and Don’t). If they consistently follow these rules (most of which are not in the word of God) they feel this is Holy Living and God is pleased when in fact it is self-righteousness.

If strict obedience to Leaders, rules, traditions and tales (not based on Gods Word) are your source and guide for living right (holiness), you are driven by the letter and not lead by the Spirit of God.

“For all who are lead by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Rom.8: 14).
