Knowing When To Let Go.
When do you move on? From what? Deciding to move on to another place of worship, deciding to part ways with those claiming to be friends. It depends on what you feel and know is holding you back from being all that you can be in Jesus Christ. You might be teaching Sunday School and that’s not what your calling is, you might be singing in a choir and you know you cant sing (everyone knows it too), your not in the place that God intended. The reason your not where you could (or should) be, your not listening to that still small voice of God.
Isn’t the bottom line (your motivating reason), for going to church, is to one day spend eternity …away from Hell? Why do you believe? Why do you go to church? Why do you fellowship with other believers? Why do you say amen? Even those who are just in the church for the purposes of socializing have a purpose and reason for attending and when they have gotten their fill of fun, friendship and are ready for new experiences, they move on. For the more serious of believers, when do you move on and let go of a place in which you’ve been a member of for seven or more years and your not satisfied? You know and you feel there is something more for you to do. Every time you make up your mind to move on, leadership discourages you and says; are you sure God is leading?
One would think that if a person has been blessed with much knowledge and wisdom from being in a single location for X number of years, that someone else can be blessed and encouraged with that same knowledge and information that you walk around with in your head. Lets face it, what church leader like to see their prized member, visiting or attending elsewhere?
Believers have allowed leaders to claim ownership over their favorite or key people in their churches, forgetting that the people belong to God and the people are members of the body of Christ…universally, not confined to a single geographical location.
If you’ve been thinking about moving on for years, you’ve already realized its time to let go of the traditions, social status and clicks so that you can grow to be the person you are meant to be in Christ Jesus.
