It really doesn't matter, everyone is doing it!

There was a time when being  Christian really meant something.  This is not to say that it means nothing to many but, it seems to not matter to the thousands who lay claim to salvation or Christianity.  In  II Corinthians 5:17, it  reads;  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come –. In this day and time its nearly difficult to spot anything new about Christians because we look the same and do the same things we did prior to accepting Christ as Savior.   Shouldn’t their be something distinct and different about believers?

It seems that it really doesn’t matter with many believers because everyone else is doing the same thing…in the church as in the world.  I could produce a list of examples but, most readers would more than likely say…”But, whats wrong with that?”  I agree that in many churches, we have run people off with the many list of dos and don’t s and the rules of the church mans rules);  we go from being free in Christ to in bondage to the church.

In many of today’s church not much attention in given to how we dress, cleavage, tight jeans and skirts, oh and the short skirts. The wide open collars or the form fitting shirts (and pants)  worn by the men, the church has nearly transformed into a social clubs where you can go and dress to impress.  Everyone seems to look the other way and become  reluctant to say anything about it because we don’t want to offend, I believe this has open the flood gates to our young (and older) men and women dressing inappropriately for worship.

Now, just the mention of the words ” dressing inappropriately”  is enough to get on the wrong side of believers and we can come up with many scriptures to justify tight pants, short dresses and skirts ad bulging cleavage being worn in a corporate worship service.

Little to no glory is given to God because attention is more on who has on what and how good (and sexy) someone looks in their attire. Lets face it visual stimulation and arousal don’t stop when many people enter a place of worship, especially when there in much to look at (eye candy).

We can always look the other way and say nothing like most churches do, because we really don’t want to offend.  A newly adopted term in the church is “aren’t you suppose to come as you are?” This has become the excuse to wear want you want to and even shake what you got when the music is banging (called praise and worship in many churches)  in the church.  Very little is left up to the imagination of our young men (and older men)  sitting their in the church looking for peace , encouragement and direction in their life through Jesus Christ.

Lets face the fact: Why should anyone believe our Christian witness, when we are doing the same thing as they are?

Well, it really does matter. The church has given an inch and the devil has taken the whole city block. There is little difference between believers and non believers because everybody believes and continues to live life as usual.

It really does matter and everyone (especially n the church) shouldn’t be doing it.

Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” (II Timothy 2:19)
