At the sound of the words “Good News” I can only imagine hearing something exciting, something that will either change my present situation or state of mind from …blah! to shear Gladness!
How is the Gospel good news, when you are not aware of your present sinful state, that will meet Gods’ judgement if you do not repent and believe the Gospel?
Telling a person “Jesus Loves you” seems to make them feel comfortable in their sin! It is a fact that He does (that is evident of His death and resurrection). What will provoke hearts and minds to action is that same message John the Baptist preached, the same message that Jesus preached at the start of His Ministry “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand”.
Unless we repent we shall all likewise perish!
Jesus Christ will someday (really soon) return for His people (the church), a people without any spot or wrinkle or any such thing. And of His Kingdom, there shall be no end.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
