God uses people.
In the company of believers you hear all sort of cliches, fancy words of the christian vernacular, the problem with these words and phrases is that many of them are useless and empty. Being christian does not make you exempt from life’s problems. Although one might spend their time in much prayer, you still must interact with the rest of the worlds population and you will encounter other people with real problems.
How do you exhort, how do you minister to someone without forcing your way of thinking at them? Are you out to get them to join your church? Or, are you seeking to lead them to salvation in Jesus Christ? Speaking in the King James English (quoting bible verses) is enough to turn someone away because you give the impression that you can not relate to what they are feeling. Telling someone to “just pray” about it really falls short of helping when you as a believer should be able to empathize with what they are feeling. If someone is hungry, feed them, don’t preach to them or require that they listen to your 10 Minuit mini sermon. If someone feels isolates in the church, spend some time with them, don’t pity them or feel sorry with them. It seems the church folk have forgotten what ministry is. If your ministry takes place inside of the church building only, your missing it. What about when you leave the church building?
Your first calling was not to teach, preach, pastor of to evangelize…think about it. The first call that you received was to follow Christ, your first call was unto salvation. After God called you, He will equip you for service, not to be served.
In the body of Christ, their are many thing to be done, we that are strong should bear the infirmities of the weak (Romans 15:1) ; not sneer at them, isolate them, not talk about them as done in present times. How can we perform basic tasks like helping each other , reaching out when we are to busy doing “Our Ministry” or “My Ministry” and we do not start at home?
With the vast amounts of Christians on facebook, twitter and other social networks, why have we not made an impact on the world? Why not the community? Even the church is so busy doing ministry, their own members are falling by the waste side in discouragement and are made to feel weak or inferior because they have a problem.
God wants to use you to carry out His will. What is His will? Romans 12:1-2. Stop sending someone off to pray, pray with them. Stop telling them, “Baby..It will be alright, just hold on”, show them according to Gods word why it is already taken care of!
Write a letter to encourage some, make a phone call, start a phone ministry where you simple pray for people. Start a blog and encourage people, don’t limit God by thinking the only way to serve Him is by your weekly attendance in a building.
