Choosing Your Words Carefully – The Responsibility Of Pastors And Ministers

by nlewis on January 1, 2012 · 0 comments

I believe it goes without saying, how powerful words are. Those in ministry who pride themselves as being spirit lead, are often the most careless when it comes to choosing the words they speak to others.  If your words don’t encourage, edify and strengthen, it could be those aren’t the choice words that God would have you t use. It seems, those who use the Cross as a reason,  to quickly condemn folks to hell and preach a message , that leaves the hearer to believe that God is really angry,  is a messenger misrepresenting God.  Should the masses be alarmed at a message of doom and eternal gloom? Or should they be reminded about the love of God that caused Him, to give His Son?

There are those so steeped in their religion, they have forgotten that words actually have meaning, but they use them so loosely in ministering to others.  Where is the edifying? When  are the encouraging words? Words of Exhortation? Where are the believers? A person may be deserving of Hell, but it is not the missions or the commission of a believer to sentence you to it.  For all have sinned…and have fallen short. Responsibility seems to be a relative word. People seem to be responsible, only when their well being is at stake or they are in danger of being caught or found out.

Many churches resort to ignoring those who don’t tithe and will only visit or offer sound Godly counsel to those who do. Since when do church leaders decide whom is deserving of Gods love and Grace and who is not? There was a time when believers held to and conducted themselves at a higher standard (and many still do), I often wonder, when was the standard lowered?
